The Learning Kitchen

The project will investigate in which ways the treasure of culinaric experience and cooking competences of older women can be put to good use in order

• to motivate them to participate in new learning activities
• to empower their key competences, including ICT and social skills
• to strengthen their creativity and their own initiative

The development activities will lead to a “Concept for the Learning Kitchen” that will contain best practice examples and models how adult education activities combined with cooking events can make older learners aware of their informal competences and motivate them to enrole in educational offers.

The core demonstration event of the project will be a “Learning Kitchen Event” where teachers and learners will work together. There will be a reflection workshop on the learning experiences that they have made during the cooking sessions, and an assessment which competences (and to which extent) the learners could acquire during this process. The learners will also participate in the documentation of the event and its presentation in the internet. In this process, they will be confronted with various electronic media, from where they will receive motivation to develop a further interest in this field.
